Adjectivele “old”, “far”, “late”

• old - older/elder - the oldest/eldest

IMPORTANT !!! - elder și the eldest sunt folosite numai ca adjective atributive atunci când este vorba de relații de familie/grade de rudenie: my elder brother; the eldest of his aunts

• far - farther/further - the farthest/the furthest

IMPORTANT !!! - further are înțelesul de “mai mult”, “suplimentar”, “adițional” - further information

• late - later/latter - the latest/the last

IMPORTANT !!!

• latter înseamnă “al doilea/a doua din doi/două”:
  I invited to dinner Mary and Angela: the former is my cousin, and the latter is one of my best friends.
• the latest înseamnă “cel mai recent”:
  The latest news regarding presidential elections.
• the last înseamnă “ultimul”:
  As expected, mother had the last about where to spend our next vacation.
